Forbes Features Dr. Rosie Ward on the Hidden Programs Sabotaging Leadership

I’m honored to be featured in this Forbes article by Rodger Dean Duncan exploring the hidden patterns that can quietly undermine even the most capable leaders.

Most leadership development focuses on visible skills and behaviors. Those things matter. But they are driven by something deeper: our inner operating system.

Under stress or uncertainty, we can default to protective patterns formed much earlier in life. We may overachieve, pursue perfection, people-please, or tighten our grip to create a sense of safety.

I call these patterns Faulty Programs.

They are not character flaws. They are protective responses that once served a purpose. But when they remain unexamined, they can leave us stuck, exhausted, and reactive.

Sustainable leadership growth requires more than a new tool or technique. It requires becoming curious about what is driving our behavior beneath the surface.

That is the inner work of future-proofing leadership.

Thank you, Rodger, for helping shine a light on why developing better leaders must begin from the inside out.
